Welche sozialen und kulturellen Auswirkungen hat der Syrienkonflikt auf die Lebensumstände der Bevölkerung? Wieso fliehen Syrer*innen nach Jordanien? Wie leben sie dort? Und wie konnte es überhaupt zu dem seit bereits elf Jahre andauernden Krieg kommen?

Die Kurzfilme KOMPAKT. DIE GESCHICHTE SYRIENS (BRD 2021, MDUWelt, 8 Min., OV) und (ZU)FLUCHT – PERSPEKTIVEN AUS DEM AL-AZRAQ-CAMP FÜR GEFLÜCHTETE (BRD 2021, MDUWelt, 38 Min., OmU) erzählen mittels Animationen und Bildern aus dem Geflüchtetencamp von persönlichen Schicksalen und vermitteln ein Grundverständnis zu den Anfängen des Bürgerkrieges in Syrien.

What social and cultural effects does the Syrian conflict have on the living conditions of the population? Why are Syrians fleeing to Jordan? How do they live there and how could the war, which has been going on for eleven years now, come about in the first place? The short films KOMPAKT. DIE GESCHICHTE SYRIENS and (ZU)FLUCHT – PERSPEKTIVEN AUS DEM AL-AZRAQ-CAMP FÜR GEFLÜCHTETE use animations and pictures from the refugee camp to tell of personal fates and convey a basic understanding of the beginnings of the civil war in Syria. The film screenings will be followed by an audience discussion with the filmmakers and the presentation of the newly published book „(Zu)Flucht“.
