Radio CORAX House Rules and Regulations
Radio CORAX, with its premises and facilities, is the property of the Association Corax e.V. – Initiative for Community Radio. This infrastructure was created as the external condition for a successful community radio station in Halle (Saale). It is to be maintained for this purpose. The Association, specifically the Board of Directors and the radio station staff members, are responsible for this.
The following house rules and regulations thus apply to the use of the premises and the technical equipment:
1. In consideration of the radio-makers in the studios and editing suites, the monitor volume is to be kept at a level so other people are not disturbed. Especially after 10 p.m. it is important to make sure the volume level remains low.
2. Access to and usage of studios and editing suites my only occur in agreement with the responsible engineering crew member or a member of the coordination team. In order to coordinate the work, radio-makers should reserve the work space at least two days in advance by signing up on the production schedule. If the scheduled studio or editing suite time cannot be met, Radio Corax should be notified in a timely manner.
3. Broadcasters should be at the station at least ten minutes before the start of their show. Pre-recorded broadcasts are to be stored in the place designated for them. Editors are committed to guaranteeing the realization of their broadcast and keeping them within the allotted time period. If a scheduled broadcast cannot take place for compelling reasons, the station is to be notified in a timely maner.
4. The studios are to be left clean and orderly after their use. The Association assumes no liability for manuscripts and recordings left behind.
5. Defective equipment is to be reported immediately to a responsible person from the engineering crew or the coordination team. The property of the radio station is to be treated with care and respect; this is especially true for mobile recording and transmission devises. In case of malicious or negligent damage to property, the person(s) responsible or their legal guardian shall be held liable.
Borrowing equipment (except reportage equipment) requires the expressed permission of coordinating staff member(s) of the stations’ technical area. The responsible member(s) of the engineering crew may only lend out reportage equipment. The agreed upon loan time must be strictly observed. If the borrowed equipment is lost or damaged, it is to be replaced in consultation with the responsible staff member.
6. Editors are responsible for their guests and are liable for any malicious damage.
7. The settings on the mixing consoles and other equipment are to be returned to their original position after use. If uncertainties should arise while using equipment or if any technical problems occur, the responsible engineering crew member should be contacted before changing any settings.
8. The radio station staff members and the members of the engineering crew have the authority to enforce these rules and regulations vis-à-vis the users and their guests on the station premises and in the courtyard. Any complaints about this should be directed to the Management or the Board of Directors.
9. Persons who promote or represent group-related misanthropic discrimination (e.g. racism, anti-Semitism, sexism, homophobia, etc.) are prohibited from entering the premises and/or using equipment belonging to the Association.
10. When using the computers of Radio Corax, it is forbidden to copy and delete or change the system settings in any fashion.
11. Food and beverages are not allowed in the studios or editing suites.
12. Smoking on the premises of Radio Corax is generally prohibited. Exceptions require the approval of the editorial conference and must be indicated as such.
13. In-coming telephone calls are generally answered with the name of the station and one’s own name. Telephone numbers of Association members and associates are only to be given to other members and station employees. In all other cases, a call-back number should be noted and the concerned person/editor informed in writing or by phone.
14. The broadcasting operations have priority over production operations. Also valid during the week until 6 p.m.: The realisation of the daily programming work has priority over other production work.
15. The engineering crew and all station users shall take care to use energy, telephone and internet in a cost-saving, efficient manner.
16. The Board of Directors and the Management have the right to revoke a user’s privilege to use the technical and physical infrastructure if they violate these rules and regulations.
17. Notice: Members of the radio station acknowledge and agree to comply with these rules and regulations with their signature upon joining the Association Corax e.V. – Initiative for Community Radio. All other active participants at Radio Corax are to be briefed on the rules and regulations and confirm their compliance with their signature.
