In a world full of greenwashing, a filmmaker from the Amazon region picks up her camera to tell the rainforest’s true story. This manifesto-film dismantles colonial narratives that have shaped the Amazon as a land of abundance, exposing the violence and prejudice tied to its exploitation. From Munich to Belém, it explores how the concept of a “demographic void“ and the portrayal of a primitive territory have fueled racism and inequality.
Through this exploration, the film amplifies the voices of Amazonian peoples and interrogates pressing ecological challenges. With a bold narrative and striking cinematography, it stands as part of a new wave of postcolonial cinema — clear-eyed and essential.
We have invited director Priscilla Brasil for an Q&A after the film (to be confirmed). Join us for a discussion on what follows from the present situation for us.
