She just wants to ride

Five years ago, Lael Wilcox was the first woman to win the 6800km Trans Am Bike Race from Oregon to Virginia and is chasing record after record ever since.
So far she has ridden the Tour Divide Race four times, a self-supported Gravel race about 4400km from Canada to Mexico. As one of the best ultra-endurance cyclists of the world, she is able to live by sponsoring now and can focus on cycling full-time. This being said, her goal is not just to win the next race, but also to empower other non cis-male people to get on their bikes, to ride more and to extend their own limits. We talked with Lael about racing, sexism in the cycling scene and her feminist approach to challenge the existing circumstances.
